As part of its first venture into Eastern Europe, Jonas Metals Software achieved a model implementation of its ERP system at a medium-sized de-coiling operation in Serbia. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, the Steel Service Center was poised for the next phase of growth - and needed a modern ERP to support it. 

About Steel Service Center

Founded in 1992 by the Ilić family, the Steel Service Center in Smederevo, Serbia, has evolved from a local supplier into a technologically advanced operation. Under the leadership of Bojan Ilić, the company expanded its capabilities significantly, adding multiple cut-to-length (CTL) lines and relocating to a custom-built 15,000 m² facility.

The Challenge

With rapid growth and increasing demands from the domestic market, Managing Director Bojan Ilić identified the need for an ERP system that could scale with the business and support the complexities of metals distribution. The system needed to be customisable, user-friendly, and capable of adapting to the nuances of the regional market and language requirements.

The Solution

Our R&D team worked closely with Bojan to introduce elements of internationalisation into Jonas Metals, including translating the platform into Serbian Latin - a first for Jonas Metals. Data migration from the existing "Pantheon" accounts system was completed efficiently, and Bojan personally trained staff on each module using a simulated go-live (SGL) approach. The go-live was scheduled for January 2019 and was executed within two weeks, with full stock loaded, reports created, and operations smoothly transitioned.

Bojan’s hands-on leadership and the flexibility of Jonas Metals allowed for a tailored implementation that fit the business perfectly. The transition empowered the company with real-time reporting, streamlined operations, and a system built for continued growth - delivered without the need for a single on-site visit. This milestone marked a successful expansion for Jonas Metals into Eastern Europe and a new era of efficiency for the client.
